3D Zoetrope (2020)

My Role: Creator

Inspired by the sculptural photography work of Szymon Roginski, I created a three-dimensional paper zoetrope that explored the theme of the relationship between humans and nature. The base of the sculpture is made up of 14 dodecahedrons with frames of a looping video on three of the faces which when spun reveals the moving figure. The rest of the sculpture resembles a natural landscape with green grass and blue sky made up of a variety of 3D shapes piled on top of each other. Other shapes include photography of flowers and oil paintings of eyes. This project was my first exploration into animation and led me to having a greater understanding of the history of animation and the origin of the zoetrope.
